SECRET WATER

Left to fend for themselves on an uncharted island, the crew of the Swallow start to explore. With all the little islands, the swamps, the woods and the rocks, there is plenty to keep them occupied and gradually the missing details on the blank map they were left begin to get filled in. But then they discover  the tracks of what appears to be a huge animal in the mud at low tide. 'The hoof marks of a mastadon!' Titty declares. A mastadon? Not human, certainly - but what could it be? The mystery of the mastadon is just the start of another exciting holiday adventure for the Swallows and the Amazons as they explore Secret Water and its unknown islands.

"The Hamford Water Seal Colony Visit follows the exact route described in Arthur Ransome's book "Secret Water" starting in the 'Red Sea' at Titmarsh Marina and heading out towards 'Mastodon Island' and across 'Secret Water' to the seal colony living there. We return along 'Amazon Creek' passing the 'Camp of the Savages' along the way. This is a great trip for anyone who has read 'Secret Water' and particularly if they are reading it to their own children now".
