St Osyth Overnight Camp
|
View Image Library |
Launching from Brightlingsea Harbour, Essex, we follow the prevailing current either up the Colne to Wivenhoe where we stop off to wet our throats for a couple of hours or we paddle across to Mersea and up the Blackwater before making our way across the shipping channel to St.Osyth Beach for our overnight camp.
St.Osyth is a quiet beach backing onto protected Marshland. The beach is deserted as access is only on foot (and its a very long walk) or by small boat navigating the trechorous sand shoals. We spend a quiet evening around the camp fire before retiring to our cosy tents for a well earned nights rest. Breakfast in the morning and a leisurely set off for the return journey to Brightlingsea. Brightlingsea offers overnight parking, good pubs and restaurants with easy launch and landing options. The price is per person for the two days including the kayak, buoyancy aid, paddle & dry bags. Groups are limited to 8 paddlers with two Guides or in exceptional cases 12 paddlers and 3 Guides. The only thing we need is a good positive approach to the outdoors. Campers will need their tent, sleeping bag and basic cooking gear. Everything else is provided. This is the milder version of the 3 day Dorset ’Wild Camp’ adventure - a great way to be introduced to the outdoors wothout too much exertion. |
