Felixstowe, Suffolk Coast
We would like to invite local communities to join us when we land on beaches to beach clean. We’ve been doing beach cleans on parts of your beaches for the last 10 years, let’s work together.
If you go out for a walk, wherever you are, be it a street, a park or a beach, please take a bag with you and do a small litter pick. It really does add up. Did you know that if every person in the UK picked up JUST 3 pieces of plastic a week from outside and responsibly disposed of it, every week of the year, collectively we could clean up over 35,000 tonnes of waste!!! The difference to our environment, outlook and flora and fauna would be huge. Let’s do it!
This is a free event and if you fully participate in at least one surveyed beach clean i.e. 100-meter square area of beach where all waste is collected and surveyed for the Suffolk AONB and the Marine Conservation Society and the data published. We are trying to raise more support from local papers and national media (Sky) and BBC Suffolk Radio as well as local sponsorship so hopefully, we may have some grub and drinks available.
We start at 10am with a short briefing and then spend approximately two hours clearing all refuse found, in pairs, logging each item onto a survey sheet and placing in an allocated bag for recycling where we can. The data is collated by the Marine Conservation Society and the results published annually. Once finished we'll have lunch at the Ferry cafe, informal and fun.
Simply book online and we'll confirm details by email as usual and of course; no charge! If dates are not shown, please contact our office for new dates in 2020.
