Brightlingsea, Essex, United Kingdom
Launching from Brightlingsea Harbour, Essex, we’ll follow the prevailing current wherever possible for easier paddling. We paddle up Brightlingsea Creek through a lovely natural harbour, admiring the moored yachts and motorboats before turning back and following the shoreline out towards St. Osyth. St.Osyth is a quiet beach backing onto protected Marshland owned and managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust. The beach is deserted as access is only on foot (and its a very long walk from the nearest town) or by small boat navigating the treacherous offshore sand shoals.
We spend a quiet evening around the campfire before retiring to our tents for a well earned nights rest. A leisurely breakfast in the morning with an opportunity to take a walk along the beach, beachcombing or wildlife watch with the beautiful botany and entomology as well as bountiful birdlife in the immediate area. We set off on a leisurely return journey to Brightlingsea in the afternoon.
Brightlingsea offers overnight parking, good pubs and restaurants with easy launch and landing options. The price is per person for the two days including the kayak, buoyancy aid & paddle. All you need is a good positive approach to the outdoors, a basic tent, sleeping bag and some cooking gear. This is the milder version of the 3 days Dorset 'Wild Camp' adventure - a great way to be introduced to the outdoors without too much exertion.
We ask all of our guests to participate in a beach clean of any beach we land on during your event, usually at the end of our lunch break. Please bring along a strong bin bag and gloves (if they need them) to help us with the beach clean. Obviously, this isn't compulsory but we all use the environment and we want to take care of it for future visitors and the marine wildlife that lives there. After all, this is our coastline.

Great weekend. Was very windy and the sea was a little rough which made it a little tricky to get the boat to do what you wanted it to do.
Hi to everyone reading my experience on this trip. The journey was exciting and challenging coping with strong winds, the scenery breathtaking. Our guide Kurt was attentive and informative throughout, an experience I will always treasure and can't wait for the next adventure with Nomad Kayaking!
