Enjoy a three hour event taking in the lower end of the beautiful Stour river. Your Guide will lead you at a gentle pace towards Flatford Mill, a little hamlet hugging the river banks below East Bergholt, home to the English landscape painter, John Constable. There is a lot of bird life through the reed beds and along the banks of the River Stour and the river bed can be seen through the clear water, filtered by the abundant vegetation bordering the river.
The stop at Flatford Mill will afford a visit to the National Trust’s Bridge Cottage which shouldn’t be missed and you can take a look at an exhibition about Constable and enjoy the riverside Tearoom. Your Guide will wait with the boats for your return and you'll have an hour at Flatford Mill before we embark on our return journey. Hot drinks and cakes are available from the tearoom at Flatford Mill but don't forget we include both at the start of your journey at the Cattawade.
Flatford is great walking countryside so upon your return and a short drive up the hill to East Bergholt, you can take the family out for a pleasant walk across the meadows with the dog or simply step back in time and absorb the places Constable knew and loved so well. This is a beautiful part of our countryside and a 'must see' and doing it by kayak is a unique, sedate and memorable way of visiting this historical site.
