Wild camping with luxury added to the mix! Outdoor Recreation RAF Mildenhall bespoke event.

Exclusively for the Outdoor Recreation RAF Mildenhall, NOMAD Sea Kayaking provides all of the catering & utensils for the group.  This is wild camping without the hassle!

Arrive on Saturday morning at Bawdsey Quay (Suffolk) to meet your Guides & brief for your guided Kayaking Trip. Each guest will be provided with their own kayak, paddle & buoyancy aid.

We launch off the shingle beach with a 'seal launch', sliding down the shingle slope straight into the sea for a bit of fun & paddle north up the coast enjoying the deserted, quiet coastline. There is rich history all along our route; from Second World War 'D Day' preparations to the Cold War nuclear test bunkers at Orford Ness.

Conditions can be from flat calm to rolling swells to play in. Your Guide will stop from time to time to tell you about the area you're in & the local wildlife. The area is rich in birdlife with Kestrels hunting over the grass amongst bushy beach verges so binoculars are recommended for time in camp.

Arrive at our campsite in the early afternoon to set up our base camp & take time to relax and settle in with a cup of tea/coffee. Once you've settled into your tent & had a look around the campsite we have the option of paddling out again in the afternoon. This time visiting the mouth of the River Ore which leads up to Aldeburgh with beautiful views out to sea & north to the site of the lighthouse on Orford Ness; the famous former secret nuclear test site.

It doesn't end there; heading out from our camp, we'll visit the local Martello Tower (crops permitting) to take a tour of the historic site, enjoying the beautiful views from the top.  Once back at camp we'll enjoy a glass of wine sun-downer on the beach, relax & chill. Our guests get free time to enjoy the surroundings with a walk, bird watching, contemplating life or just having a snooze outside your tent or in the sun. Dinner is prepared for you in camp & we can cater to most dietary needs with plenty of notice.

The evening is spent around the fire with a drink or walking along the beach in the moonlight which is particularly stunning on a full moon.

Breakfast on Sunday morning, not too early! After a coffee/ tea, we'll enjoy a relaxed & informal meal on the beach overlooking the sea. Pack up your kayak ready to set off down the coast back towards Felixstowe Ferry, around two hours paddle & finish the day with a snack & drink at the local cafe before setting off home. A great adventure without the hassle, cost & worry of stoves & food.

*Catering provided, sit-on-top kayak, PFD & paddle supplied. Guests provide their own camping equipment.

Had a great time on my first camping and kayaking weekend. The instructors were knowledgeable and friendly. Would recommend to others.

Becky & Kurt made the trip a great experience. From the perspective of a first time sea kayaking experience & only second time in a kayak, the patience & assistance was first rate. They made the event low stress by handling equipment, food & training for the ones of us that were new to the sport. They also made sure to keep everyone in the group in sight & hearing distance to ensure quick response to any safety issues that may have come up. I really enjoyed the local knowledge & history that they passed on to the group. It definitely made the excursion that much better knowing a little more about the location. They were very aware of the wildlife in the area & made sure we knew to be aware of the smaller animals that may be affected by our activities. I will definitely look for more events with Nomad Sea Kayaking in the future.

Thanks 'D', it was great having you along. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Great trip! The guides were very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Pro tip, put you cell phone in a tightly seal ziplock bag and it will float if it falls out of your pocket 😅 😂

Great tip Scott, thanks!
