Retail guests are welcome to join us of a great day of sea paddling & good company on the water.

£99.99 p/seat

This trip is designed for all of our Sea Kayaking Members (Subscribers) and guests are welcome. This trip will allow us to stretch ourselves in terms of distance & general sea conditions with a like-minded group of competent, fellow paddlers.

A ‘roll’ is not necessary but competent recoveries & fitness are general prerequisites as well as suitable winter clothing and gear. The focus here is to have fun & good healthy exercise out in our beautiful environment together, doing something we love & blow away the cobwebs with a day paddle.

The trip plan is as follows;

Brightlingsea to Clacton-on-Sea & Return  (Total 7 hours including 1hr30 mins breaks including on the water breaks)

Launch Venue: Brightlingsea Sailing Club (CO7 0DY)

Parking in the Pay & Display.

Launch: 7:00am from the slipway.

Distance: 7.25 nautical miles, approximate time on the water 2 hours 25 minutes each way at 3 knots average.

Arrival Clacton beach: Approximately 09:45am (1 hour lunch break)

Depart Clacton: 10:45am

Arrival (Finish) Brightlingsea: Approximately 13H15

Dry suits are not compulsory but recommended & each paddler must have their own gear i.e. paddle, buoyancy aid & own sea kayak or touring boat meeting the three basic requirements;

  1. Deck lines all around
  2. Retractable skeg
  3. Front rear bulkheads

Retail guests will be provided either a touring kayak or a full size sea kayak.

Paddlers should carry their tow system, a pea whistle on their buoyancy aid and at least one ‘other’ means of calling for assistance (flares/s, VHF radio, heliograph etc) emergency ‘grab bag’, extra warm clothing and plenty of food and fluids. A small first aid kit with any self-medication is also required for each paddler. This trip is Guided but each paddler must be self-sufficient with all of their necessary gear, food/water, load and carry boats et cetera.
