A short distance night paddle launching from Shotley Marina, Shotley Gate, Suffolk. Your BCU Lead Guide will navigate a route that encompasses the old Harwich harbour, under the piers and around what used to be the old ship building yards of Nelsons time. We land on the beach at Harwich VTS or if tides permit, on the low water shoal that leads out to the deep water channel from the beach. We return via Felixestowe Container Terminal and if circumstances permit, paddle up within good viewing distance of the great cargo carrying monoliths of our time.
We finish at Shotley Marina around 2 hours from when we launched. The price includes your stable sit-on-top kayak, buoyancy aid & paddle plus chemical light. This is a guided tour and sea kayakers are welcome.
This is a surreal trip not to be missed - it's a great experience to remember and a perfect trip for those of you paddling at night for the first time. When last did you paddle at night?

This was my first trip with Nomad and I was made to feel welcome as soon as I arrived. We set off just before 9pm and once we were out on the river, we had a great view of the sun setting behind the Orwell Bridge. It was a small group and the pace was fairly easy, initially through the shallows at the edge of the river, then the pace picked up a bit as we crossed to the other side. I was thrilled to hear and then see a pair of Oystercatchers along the shore. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and looking forward to my next paddle with Nomad. Thank you to Becky and Kurt, whose confidence and enthusiasm made me feel safe, even in the middle of a river in the middle of the night!!
Thank you Dina, we look forward to welcoming you on your next event.
