Discover the Deben Kayaking Trip

A relaxing & easy trip for beginners on sit-on-top and touring kayaks in good weather & a following tide in both directions.

£94.99 p/seat

This event is designed for beginners on sit-on-top and touring kayaks in good conditions, nice weather & a following tide. This is a social event & an opportunity for guests to 'stretch their sea legs'. It isn't just physical health benefits this event provides but also the mental health of a fun social gathering with other like-minded people, all while enjoying the fresh air & exercise of the great outdoors. We all need a little of both from time to time!

Launching from Bawdsey Quay, we have approximately an hour of easy paddling up the Deben estuary with a following tide. This is a beautiful & quiet section of the estuary with plentiful birdlife & tranquil, scenic views. Chat along or just remain with your own thoughts as we paddle up to Ramsholt Arms where we'll land at high water on the beach. A break at the Ramsholt Arms pub for a hot drink OR bring your own & of course your packed lunch.

Retail guests have the choice of kayaks to choose from although this event is designed for beginners or slightly more experienced paddlers wanting an easy day paddle.

NOMAD Sea Kayaking tries to complete a beach clean (conditions permitting) of all beaches we land on during your event, usually at the end of our lunch break & we ask our guests to participate. Please bring along a strong bin bag & gloves (as needed) to help us with the cleanup. This isn't compulsory but we all use the environment & we want to take care of it for future visitors & the marine wildlife that lives there. After all, this is our coastline.

A lovely opener for the new season and a great opportunity to blow off the COVID lockdown cobwebs. Whilst billed originally as a winter trip, we had near perfect conditions today for an hour's paddle from Bawdsey to Ramsholt with the tide, and then return after a short break ashore until the tide turned. As always, very well guided and supported by Kurt and Becky. Very much looking forward to further excursions with them this year.

It was great to see you after such a long time in lockdown and good to have you along Norman, as always. Well paddled on your new kayak. (Kurt)

A great trip. Enjoyed being able to put into practice the information gained from the 'Introduction to Kayaking' course completed earlier in the month. Would recommend Nomad Sea Kayaking if you are interested in taking up sea kayaking.

It was great to see you & Nigel again Kathryn, looking forward to the 'Intro to Sea Kayaking' course in August.

A pleasant afternoon paddle to the pub and back - great to be out on the river with Nomad again after lockdown.

Fresh air and open spaces again Tim. Thanks for your review.
