The designer, Steve Whetman, is a veteran kayaker & adventurer with over 30 years in kayak sport & 15 years in paddlesport manufacturing. Steve is totally focused on creating exciting gear for paddlers, constantly improving his designs for better safety & efficiency on the water where it matters most.
The Guide Tow System
The priority in making this device was functionality. The user is likely to deploy the device on a regular basis & needs a simple system which can be repacked in rough water & deployed again fast. Floating rope, buoyancy built into the bag, shock absorbing bungee & heavy duty YKK zip plus quick release belt as standard.
The bag has two tows:
- Main Tow (short and long)
- Contact Tow
NOMAD Verdict: This is our chosen tow system for all NSK guides & coaches, pressure tested over a number of years in advanced sea conditions. Kraken stainless karabiners are included throughout.
Karabiner Maintenance
Sea salt crystals can form & block up the karabiner spring and screw collar & so we highly recommend rinse in hot water after every use & spray with silicone spray.

Limpet; sea throwline
Limpet Throwline - designed specifically for the sea with 14 metre of 6mm floating line. Small & compact, attaches to a deck line with Velcro.
NOMAD Verdict: Not widely found on most sea kayaks, NSK guides have personal experience using this very system to recover a ‘swimmer‘ from a small cave in rough conditions.....it worked perfectly! Highly recommended!

Stainless tiedown cam buckle straps
The strap is 25mm robust very strong polyester webbing bound to a 100% stainless steel cam buckle & spring. Using industrial bar tacks of high tensile polyester industrial thread.
Supplied as a pair of black straps from 1 metre lengths to 10 metres.
These stainless cam buckles will not corrode & the stainless spring will not fail. Ideal for use in salty conditions such as sea water & salted winter roads.
