Orwell Estuary, Suffolk
This Trip is for anyone wanting to have 'a go' at kayaking and/or have never paddled before and want an easy guided trip with no hassle whilst enjoying the renowned beauty of the Orwell estuary. The route encompasses amongst the most beautiful scenery of the Orwell with old river barges and scuppered wooden boats scattered along the shore, dense coastal forest and renowned pubs with excellent food. Woolverstone Marina is a well-provisioned modern Marina with parking, a restaurant and beautiful local walks and Pin Mill is famous for its history and the Butt and Oyster pub with good food and a welcome cold drink.
This kayaking is relaxed and laid back with a professional guide leading the way and taking care of the guests. The route will run in either direction with the following tide so that the paddling is easier for guests and total approximately two hours depending on the group and conditions on the day. Bring along some cash for parking and the pub and/or a packed lunch, sun hat and glasses and your confirmation email will advise what to wear and bring along.
Weather Remit: A wind of a maximum of 15 knots steady blow and this includes wind gusts. The trip will be rescheduled if the wind exceeds this limit and there is further discretion on the part of the Lead Guide with all-night events. Rain, snow and other conditions don’t generally affect our ability on the water. Exceptions are sometimes made and this is at the discretion of your Lead Guide and/or the Operations Director. Your Lead Guide will make a decision based on the wind speed (including wind gusts) in combination with tide strength and direction, time of day or night and size of the group alongside other factors that may influence the safety and comfort of the entire group. NSK wants to get your event completed as soon as possible; please trust the judgement of your coach/Guide.

This was a birthday treat for myself which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was not too physically challenging but not too easy either. The Nomad team were friendly, welcoming, organised and professional. The only slightly down side was a soggy bottom! You will get wet.
Thank you Diane! It was lovely to meet you and we are looking forward to seeing you on the water again for our Beach Clean by Kayak :)
A well planned, stress-less and enjoyable day. We followed the tide both up and down the River Orwell, and were lucky with the weather. Some were nervous to start, having had very little Kayaking experience, but as soon as we got into open water it was clear that the group had nothing to fear, with close-knit groups following each other lead by an experienced NOMAD Kayaker.
Thank you Steve, its a pleasure to paddle with you and great to see you again! Looking forward to you joining us for our Beach Clean by Kayak in October. See you soon, Becky NSK
A thoroughly enjoyable experience and my first time kayaking at sea. I had done similar things on lakes whilst in scouts so chose to do the introduction day to see how it was and I cant wait to go back. Guides are both knowledgeable and pleasant in equal measure and are very passionate about the environment that their business thrives in. Would recommend this to anyone considering trying it as it's not too labour intensive and you get some lovely views. My only points I'd make is that you will get wet from launching the kayak up to about knee height, which to be honest was probably an oversight on my part as I'd not given it much consideration, and parking is tight as the carpark is small so may be best to attend early as it can be a bit of a walk for street parking if the weather is nice.
Thank you for the great review and we are so glad that you enjoyed your time with us! Great point about the knee deep water and the parking too. We do ask for honest reviews and what our guests both like and don't like.
We hope to see you again very soon and it was a pleasure paddling with you.
