Entomology Club
We have monthly field collection gatherings where we meet at a pre-designated location to collect specimens and share field skills & data collection & recording.
Members also have access to monthly online digital resources, online tutorials, specimen identification support, discounted training courses and equipment offers.
We meet each month for an informal club social; a coffee, a pizza, a barbecue (food usually plays a part).
Not at all. The club is designed for complete beginners to those with a growing interest in insects and more experienced naturalists.
You’ll be guided step-by-step on how to observe, collect, and identify specimens, building your knowledge and confidence over time.
Club membership gives you access to regular guided field sessions, practical learning in real habitats, and ongoing support as you develop your skills.
You’ll learn how to find, handle, and study insects properly, with a strong emphasis on ethical collecting and conservation.
You'll also receive discounts on our training courses, equipment and access to our online digital resources.
No—basic equipment can be provided to get you started. As your interest grows, you’ll have the option to purchase your own simple field kit (such as a net or specimen pots), but there’s no pressure to do so.
When done correctly, it isn’t. Ethical collecting is a key part of what we teach.
You’ll learn how to take only what’s necessary for study, avoid sensitive species, and contribute positively to understanding and conserving insect populations.
