Kayakers in lucky escape from humpback whale splash
A pair of kayakers off the coast of California, USA, have had a very lucky escape. A humpback whale launched itself from the water and landed on their boat. The man and woman were saved by their buoyancy aids and other kayakers, who were paddling just outside Monterey Bay. The moment was captured on camera by Sanctuary Cruises and is available to watch at http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/34269894
This is not the first time a whale has broached and landed on a kayaker but in every case the paddler survived without too much trouble. A good dunking and a reliable roll seems to be the end result.
